What is Maltodextrin ?
NUTRITION TIPS for your week . . .
First let's look at one substance that is commonly found on food labels
When you're out shopping in the supermarket be sure to read the labels. One name you will often see is - MALTODEXTRIN

- Does it grow in your garden ? - NO
- Will you find it in a fruit and vegs store ? - NO
- Do you know what it means ? - NO probably not for most people
- Can you pronounce it ? - probably not in many cases
- Then ask yourself a question - do I want it in my body?
Your body is sacred - it's your temple and the only home you will have for the whole of your life. Treat it as such and it will thrive but putting these toxic chemicals into it will NOT make you thrive - just the opposite. Here's why . . . .
MALTODEXTRIN :
* Is highly processed
* An anti-caking agent
* High in sugars and spikes your insulin levels.
* In relatively large quantities in sports drinks and energy drinks.
* Often used in our everyday foods, like yogurt, sauces and salad dressings
* Used as a thickener or filler to increase the volume of processed foods, like instant puddings and gelatines, sauces and salad dressings, baked goods, potato chips, jerky, yogurts, nutrition bars, meal replacement shakes, and sugar-free sweeteners (like Splenda)
* Can change composition of your gut bacteria by suppressing the growth of beneficial probiotics !!
* It’s used extensively to improve the flavour or texture of food and prolong their shelf-life
SCARINGLY ENOUGH IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE SHOWN ON A LABEL so it could be in your food and you won't even know it.
